One of a Kind, already Sold, Custom Cars

This one of a kind modern refrigerated car can be found on the New Unionville and Western Railroad in Blooomington, Indiana.  Pete Pedigo wanted this type of car to roam the mainline on hot days carrying plenty of ice cold beverages for everyone working on the railroad. Pete shown here on the day this car was delivered and presented to the New Unionville and Western Railroad.

"We are using our railroad and trains to build it. This is the best car I will probably ever have and it is one that we will use all the time. It is bullet proof and very well built."

Modern Refrigerator Car with built in Stainless Steel insulated Cooler
The car is divided into 3 separate compartments.  The left, wood lined, compartment is dry storage for snacks such as potato chips. The center compartment is the custom built insulated Stainless Steel Cooler.  The right, wood lined, compartment has a removable trash receptacle for empty cans and other trash.  The roof of the car is steel and is mounted on a full length piano hinge which is nearly invisible the way it is mounted.  The area or the roof over the cooler also serves as the insulated stainless steel lid for the cooler which opens automatically with the roof, but seals the cooler when the lid is down buy its uniqued design.  The roof is held open by a pair of pneumatic cylinders which
means no worry of the wind blowing the roof shut while digging for a favorite drink.. In the summer the roof of the car can get too hot to touch, yet the insulated cooler keeps drinks iced down all day.  At the end of the day the cooler can be drained off with a built in drain valve hidden under the car.
